Sacred Court Support is an interfaith immigration court accompaniment program led by HIAS, Co-Counsel NYC, St. Paul & St. Andrews, & B’nai Jeshurun. We train and organize volunteers to accompany and stand alongside immigrants during their court proceedings, offering presence, compassion, and care in an otherwise oppressive system built to isolate and dehumanize.
We are currently recruiting new volunteers and will be hosting a virtual training on Thursday, March 5, from 6:30–8:00 PM.
Our greatest need right now is for volunteers who:
- Speak languages other than English (especially Spanish, Arabic, or French)
- Have weekday daytime availability
We are people of many faiths and of no faith, united by a shared commitment to human dignity, collective liberation, and the pursuit of justice. Our work is not about fixing or saving, nor about force or violence. Rather, we prioritize presence, relationship-building, and showing up for our immigrant neighbors and friends with courage and consistency. See Pastor Thia’s weekly email for the link to registration.
