Harpreet continues to be held in ICE detention despite remaining uncharged for any crime, while his wife and newborn (whom he has yet to see) await a decision on whether he may be deported. In the last hearing, Harpreet and his attorney recounted the violence he experienced as a Muslim in the current political climate in his native India. Even after relocating, he was still beaten, harassed and threatened.
Please consider being a supportive presence in the hearing. Witnessing the proceedings is a comfort to the family and a reminder to the judge that people care and are watching.
While in the proceeding, you will need to remain silent. The judge will ask you to agree not to record or share the hearing.
