Seeking a Better World Together

May 2018

Author gbakoulis, Written May 3, 2018

We have a busy May as we move through the season with our Interim Pastor, Rev. Lindsay Borden. Now and always, we cherish times spent together. Please join us as often as you can, and invite others to share in our fellowship.

Whether you are a longtime or new member or are considering making Second Presbyterian Church your spiritual home, we hope you will find ways to engage with us. Please call the church office at 212.749.1700 or speak to any church member if you have questions.

We seek God and practice a welcoming faith, treasuring our times together in God’s presence. We worship on Sundays at 10:15 a.m. in the Sanctuary. Children leave for Sunday School at 10:30 a.m. with their teacher, Pamela Hahn. Following worship (11:30 a.m.), we gather for Coffee Hour in the Carnegie Library.

All members of the congregation are encouraged to assist with worship as lector, beadle, greeter, or offering collector. Please see our Worship Coordinator, Elaine Steele, if you’d like to assist.

Sunday, May 6:  Worship, 10:15 a.m. in the Sanctuary; Rev. Lindsay Borden preaching; Eunjung Ahn, Minister of Music. A brief congregational meeting in the Sanctuary will follow (see below).

Tuesday, May 8: Tuesdays at Prayer, 11:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary. Those who wish will go to lunch afterward at a local bistro.

Sunday, May 13/Mother’s Day: Worship, 10:15 a.m. in the Sanctuary; Rev. Lindsay Borden preaching; Eunjung Ahn, Minister of Music. The Children’s Chimes Choir will play. In line with our tradition, the flowers in worship honor our mothers–red for those in our lives now, white for those with the saints. During our Time with Young Disciples, we’ll Shine a Light on the Mothers in Prison/Children in Crisis Campaign by our partners at the Church of Gethsemane.

Pentecost Sunday, May 20: Worship, 10:15 a.m. in the Sanctuary; Rev. Lindsay Borden preaching; Eunjung Ahn, Minister of Music; communion in the pews.

Sunday, May 27: Worship, 10:15 a.m. in the Sanctuary. Rev. Lindsay Borden preaching; Eunjung Ahn, Minister of Music.
